Project NEMO
Project NEMO is a cutting-edge 2+2 VTOL hybrid aircraft designed specifically for search and rescue missions, including the delivery of medical aid in challenging environments. Featuring a split V-tail design and a twin boom configuration for quadrotor operations, it transitions seamlessly between forward flight and vertical takeoff/landing modes using tilt rotors. This enables rapid deployment in diverse conditions. Built with a lightweight rib-spar structure, Project NEMO also incorporates detachable components, allowing for modularity, easy storage, and transport. Its advanced design makes it a versatile and reliable platform for critical search and rescue operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of aid. Project NEMO was built for the IMechE UAS Challenge. This project was sponsored by Spirent, Thales, 3DXR and Al’s Hobbies.

CranSED Solar UAV
We do collaborative projects with other societies like CranSEDS. The Solar UAV platform sponsored by GDST is a quarter-scale solar powered platform of the Arctic Surfer. The aim of the project is to capture icebergs in the arctic and translate the information via SATCOM to ships in the area to allow them to navigate through the Arctic. The project further involves Machine Learning and Computer Vision in addition to designing, building and testing the platform.
